Happy new Year from thailand. Today wa Songkran, thai new year, and as you will have already guessed if youve looked at the photos they celebrate by having massive water fights! It was a loads of fun, mad, people on streets with huge buckets of water to chuck at you when you walk past, and to chuck at people on bikes and cars. Lots of families were driving round in there pickups, about 10 deep with barrels of water on back. Just couldnt believe everyone was getting soaked, young and old, and all having so much fun. We got drenched. we set off for a walk round kamala then went to patong, where the main street was gridlocked and flooded with everyone spraying everyone. They also put chalk on your face, another tradition, so kept getting talc chucked and rubbed on us, we looked a right sight, good job everyone else looked the same. We think they chuck the water to bring on the rain gods or something, but looks like an excuse to have lots of fun to us. A very amusing day, one we will def not forget! So refreshing to get soaked in the sun, although some had iced water which was a bit of a shock. Tomorrow we go on another trip to see the floating village.
