Friday we went on another trip to Phang Nga Bay. First we stopped off at Sunwankha temple which is called Monkey cave for the tourists. It gets the name from all the not so wild monkeys running round the entrance to the cave. Inside the cave is a reclining buddha and lots of bats, and outside lots of tourists feeding the monkeys bananas and nuts. Happy new Year from thailand. Today wa Songkran, thai new year, and as you will have already guessed if youve looked at the photos they celebrate by having massive water fights! It was a loads of fun, mad, people on streets with huge buckets of water to chuck at you when you walk past, and to chuck at people on bikes and cars. Flew down from Chiang Mai on Monday.Pleased to report our hotel at kamala beach one of the worst affected areas of the tsuanmi, was all up and running, and busy. There is stil alot of work going on around the town, complete with diggers going up and down the beach. However just pleased to see the place is getting back on its feet. On Thursday we explored the centre of Chiang Mai. We stopped off at the Main gate, entrance to the city, complete with a moat. We then walked round several of the main temples, you get exhausted before you exhaust the temples! This week is a special ceremonial week when the boys learn from the monks, get there heads shaved and get there orange robes. So alll the temples are busy with families watching there children. We arrived in Chiang Mai on Monday. Its very different to Bangkok, still a big city with lots of old buildings but no skyscrapers. Its still red hot which is continuing to make the sightseeing it sweaty work.
