Craig & Jills Round the World Trip
Last night we went to minus 5 bar in auckland, which is a bar completley made out of ice, even the glasses. It was literally quite cool, we both came out with red noses. It had lots of cool ice sculptures, and a cool bar again made of ice, stocked up with bottles of vodka. We also had a walk on the harbourfront, where we were surprised to see another famous icon to add to our list, the QE2. It was docked up in the harbour, it is huge. So lots of people walking round thinking they were posh from off the boat.
Today we got our hire car, dont laugh, we are on a budget now so trying to save money, we have an old nissan bluebird! We finally managed to direct our way our of auckland to the black beaches of the west coast, Pihia and Lions Rock. The drive was bizarre, it took us through jungle like scenery, palm trees and bamboo, not what we were expecting to see in NZ. We then drove south and the scenery got more typical NZ, and very much like England, very green, lots of fields and mountains, and sheep. We stopped off in a town called hamilton, which was on a river. It was a really nice place, full or loads of really cool bars and restaurants.
Tonight we arrived at Waitomo where ther are caves full of glow worms. We have checked into our hostal, after once again rejecting the first bed in a shed.
