Very cold start- ice on the car. Headed for The Gloucester tree for some serious climbing. Sean was headachy, so we treated that and he soon picked up. Ross and Giles scooted up the tree -all 63 meters of it. Afterwards we discovered that these trees were actually used for fire spotting, so not just for tourists! Headed on to Manjimup for lunch at the local bakery and then via the one tree bridge which was not actually in service anymore, but in a picturesque location, and on to Cape Leeuwin and some whale spotting in the grounds of the lighthouse. Lots of whales breaching and blowing - very good fun. The sea was quite wild and woolly -with the added complication of being the junction point of the Indian and Southern Oceans.
Headed for Margaret River, the most famous name in Southern WA only to be somewhat disappointed by the commercialism, and the inability of the Tourist Information Centre to book us into accommodation for a night - took about 6 places before someone was prepared to accommodate us for a single night - at the Riverside Caravan Park. Went and got our groceries and had nachos for tea.
