We are in Mendoza (Argentina). Arrived this morning at 6.00am after being on an overnight bus and slept remarkably well. But no doubt that attributed to me sleeping only 3 hours the night before on our flight from Ecuador to Chile and Aidan only 1 hour (they were showing the matrix, guess who stayed up to watch it?).
Anyway we expected to arrive in a very sleepy town (at 6am) but ohh no this town knows how to party. There were people everywhere of all ages. And a number of bar/cafes open so we had somewhere to have a coffee and some breakfast. This place is beautiful, so European, real coffee, good food, fashionable clothes and heaps of wine. And even better at really cheap prices because the Argentinian peso crashed a couple of years ago us foreigners are really getting the best deal from visiting this place.
This town is pretty much on the map because it supports around 70% of the wine production in Argentina. So wine is on the menu, everywhere (including mcdonalds). Tonight we bought a delicious bottle of Sav Blanc, Semillion for around $3 Australian - love it).
Well must go, and refill the wine glass.
Lots of love and hugs to everyone
Bronwyn (and Aidan) xx
