Bronwyn
We're getting closer to finishng our Sth American trip but it aint over until the fat lady sings (sorry Bron Im not implying anything!) We arrived here thinking we would see a bit of the Lakes District of Chile and Argentina however as of yet we have just seen Bariloche and it looks like we will be staying put for another few days over Easter before heading up to Santiago to fly to Buenos Aires.
So what have we done:
Bike Ride: Around Lake Nahuel Huapi viewing the vistas whilst eating and drinking, soup, wine, cafe and desert. Why else would you want to do a 50km bike ride. Did I also tell you that it rained all day, luckily we didnt let that bother us, the view was too beautiful to complain. Picture Bright in the Vic Alps and just add alot of lakes and Swiss chalets and there you have it.
Climbing Mts near Villa Catedral: Me (aidan) being me I decided to reneg on the $12AUD return trip up on the ski lift and walked up the 1000m to the top. What a view, I felt like I was ontop of the world. Views of lakes, Mts and picturesque towns as far as the eye could see and better yet the sun was shinning for the first time in a week, I even made it to the snow line.
Market Shopping: As I climbed Bron (being a female as she is) took the 2 hour bus 150km away to El Bolson...basicly to shop. Luckily she didnt break the budget to badly and thoroughly enjoyed her day strolling through the street markets.
Cooking: I've been in my element here cooking every night from veal parmigana to a vegetable roast to fish cooked with white wine, fennel and potatoes, as I've said before the food is cheap, the wine is cheap ($3AUD) and better yet nearly all the chocolate supplied to Argentina is made here.
Tomoorow sees us do a 2 day hike..just like the Easter weekends in OZ.
ENJOY THE EASTER BREAK...until next time love ya all!!
