We headed "off the beaten track" down the Savannah Way to the Limmen National Park. 3hours to go 115km!! Put the cars and campers to the test, even crossed a deeper creek-which was exhilarating!!
Along the way we stopped at the Southern Lost City, a 2.5km walk around spectacular rock formations. We even managed for all 10 of us to wander off the path......and end up a little lost in the lost city.
We made it to Butterfly Springs-a beautiful spot-with a lovely swimming hole, free of crocodiles! The waterfall is trickling into the swimming hole, surrounded by sandstone rock walls. There is even a sandy beach to sit in the dappled sunlight when the water gets to cool. The spring gets its name from the thousands of butterfly's that call the rock walls home. As we walked towards the rock wall the butterfly's take flight-a truly amazing sight- which thrilled the kids and adults alike. We enjoyed the swimming and peace of the place so much -we ended up here for 3 nights.
We managed to squeeze in some homework, Barb cooked damper, and I baked a cake:) happy days!!
