We had breakfast at the hotel, James was complaining his foot was really painful and he wasn't sure why. So came back to the room afterwards and I had a look at it, our plan for today is pretty much walking, walking and more walking so a bad foot is not a good thing. When I looked I couldn't see anything then James said it hurt between his big toe and the one next to it. I saw something black and presumed it was a bit of sock fluff, but the sock fluff wouldn't move, on closer inspection the sock fluff had legs, it was a tick!! I knew you had to be careful when removing ticks so I got my tweezers and got it out. It left a little hole and the area was red, James was still in pain so we thought the best thing to do would be to make a stop at a pharmacy to get it checked. We got our things together, put the tick in a little bag, just in case we needed to show anyone what it was and went down to the reception. We were given a map of the area with the tourist places handily pointed out and we asked about a nearby pharmacy. The pharmacy was pretty close by, James was given antibiotics for any infection and anti inflammatory tablets. Hopefully it won't take too long before it's feeling better again. We then set off for the Ho Chi Minh museum, it was a bit of a walk away but it was a nice day. We got to the museum and paid around 50p each entrance fee, some parts of it were ok but we've been to better. The best part of it was the planes in the grounds of the museum and you could see them without actually going in. We walked to a nearby park to sit for a little while and work out where out next point of interest was. Whilst in the park an old lady came up to us carrying a bottle she pointed to the one I had in my hand and gestured for me to drink it so she could have my bottle, I didn't. She walked away and started searching the bins instead. The next place closest to visit was the palace, you could pay to go inside the grounds but we just looked and took a photo from the gates. We were heading for the War Remnants Museum, a few people have said it was a really interesting place to go. We spent hours at the museum, there was so much to read and so many photographs to look at, it was very good. In some parts it was extremely graphic though! And of course, we are in Vietnam so the museum had a biased view of the war. We left the museum at 5.00pm when it closed and headed back to the hotel. We chilled there for an hour or so got changed then went out for something to eat. We found a place called Five Oysters, they had the best spring rolls we've had in Vietnam. Also after your meal you got given some fruit, it was similar to an apple but tiny and had a very bizarre taste. We went to find a bar for a beer and got sat on a table talking to a guy from England for a little while, then moved onto a street bar where we talked to a couple who were also English. Our last bar was close to our hotel, it played the strangest music choices, I guess this is what they think westerners want to listen to. We got back to the hotel at around 2.30am, the front door had a padlock on and the curtains were pulled across. They hadn't said anything about locking up when we left, there was a bell that we rang and someone came. She said it was only for security reasons and you can come and go as you please, it still scared us though!
