We slept really well last night because we did diving yesterday, we got breakfast at the hotel then got a bag together to go to the beach. When we were at the dive shop yesterday we had asked where was the best beach to snorkel, the guy had said Toko beach was good but we would have to get a long tail there and back probably. We thought this sounded good as a day out. When we went to the pier to try and get boat to Toko beach they were all asking for 600 baht over £12 to go there, this place is on the same island! So we said we weren't paying that and stayed on the pier hoping we could convince someone to take us for less. When you looked down into the water at the pier there were thousands of fish swimming round the steps. People were bringing bread to feed them, whole slices were thrown in and I've never seen such a scramble to get food by fish. Eventually we got someone to take us to Toko for 400 baht, he was a bit hush hush though, I guess he wasn't supposed to be doing it cheaper. When we pulled up to the beach there were only about six other people on there with one beach resort. The beach resort had bungalows on stilts up in the trees and they had a restaurant on the beach, it was so pretty. We put our things down under the shade of a tree and went snorkeling. It was amazing, we saw so many cool fish and lots of them in groups. We went back to the beach to dry out and read a little then we went back for more snorkeling. As soon as you step into the water the reef was just about there in front of you, if we swam out further to where it got really deep there were loads more fish. After we got out again we went got something to eat at the beach restaurant and chilled reading again. James went back in one more time before we left. We packed our things, it was about 5pm, there was a path to the view point on the island so thought we'd follow it up in time for the sunset. This way we would also walk back to our beach and wouldn't have to pay for a boat. We set off on the path James was still wet from last swim, dripping in his flip flops making it really difficult to climb. We were pretty much trekking in the jungle there wasn't really a path. It took 30 minutes on this sort of path with massive beetles on the trees and Mosquitos surrounding us we were glad to reach a clearing. There was a little shop selling drinks but we just sat for a bit, while we were there a bird (I'm not sure what sort) came swooping down at us making a high pitched noise, it was black with a really long thin tail with black on the end of it. There were also some tiny chickens which surrounded us. We decided to move on to the view point which was about another 10 minutes walk away. There was a big platform with eight or so hammocks hanging from it. We sat up here until the sun went down, it was beautiful. We then set off on another trail, this one should lead us to the beach closest to us so we can get back, the path was so much better, it was an actual path although it was really difficult in the dark. We did get there though and made our way back to our hotel, at this point we NEEDED showers! We then got changed and went out for some tea.
