We got picked up by a minibus at 9.00am this morning, James and I took the last two seats, there were 12 of us altogether. It was a one hour drive to the lake and then a one hour long boat ride to get to the section of lake where we would be spending the day. The views on the long boat ride were amazing! When we got there we were told it would be half an hour until we had lunch so we could go swimming or use the kayaks in this time. We talked to the guy and asked if it were still possible for us to walk a section of the path and then come back to do swimming and kayaking. He said that should be ok. So we decided to skip the swimming and kayaking for now. We had lunch altogether and then were told it would be another half an hour before setting off. We were introduced to the guide and were told that the trekking would take around four hours, this was longer than we had been told before. We asked him about walking some of the way but he said it might be better if we just did our own thing this afternoon, and make our own way walking for a short time, that was fine with us. The rest of the group set off and we got ourselves a kayak each and went out on the water. Putting your hand in the water the temperature was like a really warm bath, I've never felt open water like that before. We kayaked around the area for around an hour, we could feel ourselves burning, it's just so hot here! When we came back in we tied our kayaks up and then jumped straight in the water. It was refreshing but not quite as refreshing as you'd like in this heat because the waters so warm too. Still we swam for a while and then got out to cool off and have a drink. We decided to try the walking, they had to get a boat across to the start of the path but they'd said you can do it yourselves so we took our shoes and a bag in a double kayak and went the same way. We waited for some boats to come out of the area with some visitors, whilst waiting we moved the kayak to one side then thousands of water spiders came into the water and started moving about, it scared us both! The boats eventually moved and we came in, I got out of the kayak first but my feet went straight into mud, the whole area was like this, there was no where we could get clean enough feet to put shoes on. We gave it up as a bad job and went back. We sat and chilled for a bit, having another drink a little annoyed that the walking wasn't possible. We spotted a group of monkeys over on the rock opposite where we were so we got straight in the water to swim across and have a good look. There were so many of them, a lot of them were mums with their babies clinging onto their tummies. While we were still looking at the monkeys our group was coming back on their boat so we got out of the water and went to get changed. We had the one hour long tail ride with the sun set in the background. Then an hour on the minibus again. We got back to our hut at around 7.30pm, a long but awesome day. We went to put trousers on and go out for some tea, we spoke to Mr Toy first about the bus to Krabi for tomorrow and he helped us arrange a mini bus which he said would be able to take us direct to Ao Nang. Mr Toy then gave us a lift into town and we got something to eat then we walked back.
