We decided for our last day on Ko Samui we would rent a scooter again and explore the north of the island. There are quite a few famous temples to go and have a look at. Also we wanted to get to the ferry pier to see if we could book our ferry for tomorrow to get to Ko Tao. We started by getting some breakfast out and about and first went to see the Big Buddha statue. It is enormous and can be seen from miles away as it's up on a hill. We got loads of photographs. Next we went to look for a set of temples and statues which was close by, we found them and they were even more impressive than the Big Buddha. There were a few of them and it was really quiet with hardly anyone else around. There were a couple of ponds there too, one with huge fish swimming around and the other with turtles in which would come to the top every now and again. After this we went to find the ferry pier, we managed to get two tickets on a ferry leaving tomorrow at 1.30pm and a pick up from our hotel at 12.45pm. There was a beach right next to the pier which was quite quiet. We decided to stay for a few hours, we walked along past the hotel sun loungers and people and right at the end of this part of the beach there was a bar so we sat for a cold drink. We put our blanket out in a shaded spot and had a swim and read our books. When we felt ourselves getting a little too pink we decided to set off again. We were getting a little hungry so stopped of at a tesco, it was enormous! We got a few bits to put us on and then went to find somewhere to eat it. We came across a place to stop, it had huge rocks at the bottom of it that you could walk on and see right out over the sea, we stopped and had our picnic. Most of the things we had bought were ok but their bread is very sweet and yeasty so we had some that really wasn't good. We set off back to our hut, it was getting dark which made it harder to find the road we wanted but we made it. We had showers then nipped over to the shop over the road to get some alcohol and sat outside our hut with a mosquito coil burning. When we had drunk our drinks we went to the restaurant near by to get some tea and watch the fire show. We decided to go into the town part of Chaweng, we got a shared taxi which is pretty much a pick up truck with open seats on the back. It can fit about eight people in the back. We jumped out and found a bar, we probably knew we were going to wake up with hangovers tomorrow when we got a bucket of cocktail in the first bar! We had a few more drinks then walked back to our hut a little worse for wear!!
