We were late getting up this morning but we got out snorkeling this afternoon. We walked down to the beach from our bungalows and went to a space pretty much in front of us there in the shade. We then got our snorkels and walked quite far up the beach in order to drift back like yesterday. We got in and were swimming out and around for a little while when a guy snorkeling near us said there was a turtle below us. We looked under, I saw it, it was laid on the coral not moving so quite difficult for James to spot. Plus we were moving away with the current and had to keep swimming against it to keep the turtle in sight. James just couldn't see it, I showed him with my hands his big it was and he said he was looking for something a lot smaller. We were swimming back to where I thought I'd seen it. There was another turtle there swimming, it was enormous! I came up to clear my mask and said turtle to some more snorkelers near by and he said yeah there's one right behind you too. I went back under and there were two huge turtles swimming together and coming up and down from the surface. We stayed and watched them for a while until they swam away. We also saw so many different types of fish too. We went back onto the beach to sit for a bit, we were so excited to have been swimming with turtles. After reading for a little while we decided to go back and snorkel again. We walked up the beach again and headed for where we thought we'd seen the turtles hoping to see more. We managed to swim right out and see another huge turtle on the coral eating. After leaving this one we saw yet another one swimming. We drifted back to where we got out at our blanket on the beach, we just couldn't believe the day of snorkeling we have had, we couldn't help thinking if the snorkeling is that good how is the diving?! We collected our things up and got back to our place to have showers before going out for something to eat. As we walked back out again we walked past the conservation place for turtles, they have three big tanks with turtles in, one had very tiny turtles and the other two tanks had hand sized ish ones in. Apparently they try to help the turtles to breed and look after their eggs and young when the time comes on the island, this place was a charity for that purpose. We went to an Internet cafe to get more things sorted and then got some tea and headed back.
