Brie & Trent's Travels
Two more days... I can't believe its almost over.
Yesterday we were excited because we caught our flight and it was only delayed 15min... sooo much better than several hours. So we arrived in Amsterdam fairly easy, and jumped on the tram to our hostel. Too bad the trams broke down about 3 stops after we got on it, and we ended up walking to our hostel. That is probably the only time that my backpack bothers me, along with the fact that there is no way around having your shirt soaked with sweat in the back... We finally found the hostel, located near the big concert hall by Museumplein, which is where all of the big art museums are.
We took some quick showers and searched for lunch. We found this delicious place that was called Wok to Walk... wok noodles to order and a lot of them. yum! Then we headed over to the park next to the museums and I soaked my feet in this pool/pond thing that they have in the middle. The water felt soo cold and nice to my little hot toes.
We then decided to head to the Van Gogh museum, which I missed last time I was in Amsterdam. The museum was really comprehensive and the way that they had it set up was really cool. It basically started by showing his influences at the time at the bottom floor, then following up to the first floor it had a room for each period/location of his painting. I was unaware of how much Japanese art influenced his painting. Some of his self portraits were my favorite because they were so colorful and the brushstrokes were so pronounced.
After the museum it was siesta time. We headed back to the hostel for a little rest, and then headed out to the center of town, via working tram! We cruised around the streets and ended up in the Red Light District. We were looking for a beauty for Trent, just kidding... I dont think we got to see the best of the best because it was still pretty early. Amsterdam is so different from when I was here last time. It is full of soo many tourists... I was telling Trent that there was going to be soo many blonde hair people, but it doesnt seem like there are any due to the mass tourists... it was fun though. Everyone was having such a good time... especially the aussies... everywhere we go theyre having loads of fun.
Unfortunately, I woke up this morning with bed bug bites. Im pretty pissed about it and ready to sleep in a normal CLEAN bed. Im kinda sad we have two more nights in hostels. The bites better not get bad like Trents did or Im gonna throw in the towel.
See you all in two days... love you!
