Brie & Trent's Travels
So last night we headed to that restaurant, Yellow, to find that not only was it in a completely different spot than marked on my guidebook map, but its closed on Tuesdays... go figure. We asked a local for a close and delicious recommendation and we walked up the street to a delicious restaurant.
We needed to try the famous tuscan dish called ribollini which is a white bean soup which was absolutely delicious. It had some sort of vegetables in it and cheese. It was the most delicious thing Trent and I have had yet in Florence. Then I got the spaghetti pomodoro which is plain tomato sauce and Trent ordered their house lasagne... sooo yummy. Trents was really cheesy. Then we headed back to the hostel to rest from heat, yet again, and to get started on our bottle of wine we bought in Venice. We had plans to go to the fesival that is just up the street, but all of the other roommates staying in our room came home so we went to go get some more bottles of wine (after hours, because I guess the markets stop selling at 10pm but the guy told us to come back in 10min and he would hook us up). We bought 3 bottles for 12e and it was goodtimes. Afterwards we tried to head to the festival but it was too late and they werent letting any more people in. So we decided to go to bed since we wouldve had to try to find a bar or something and we were too wine lazy by that time.
We woke up early to another delicious breakfast and then headed to the food market to buy stuff for our picnic. We bought the biggest piece of provolone ever, to put on focaccia with tomato. YUM! definately our best sandwich yet, and we both ate for under 5e.
We walked to the Piazza Michaelangelo (which is a big park) and ate our lunch overlooking all of Florence. Trent and I split ways and met back the the Ponte Veccino (the big bridge from the earlier entries) and then headed to the Uffizi. (Trent can cover this part)
We then headed back for a well needed siesta from the 95 degree weather.
We headed out to Yellow Bar for dinner.. it was open!! yay! and we split a veggie pizza and spaghetti carbonara.. basically it was the best pasta dish I have had yet. List of things to do when I get home is learn how to make that bean soup and spaghetti carbonara.
Well now we are going to head to the train station to buy our tickets to head to Cinque Terra tomorrow and then finally go to that Fesival to listen to some local italian rock... maybe we can be like locals.... :)
miss you all and love you lots. dont get sad if we cant write in Cinque Terra... the internet might be hard to come by.
