Today was a day for adrenaline junkies and the kids are well and truly shattered!
Once again the weather gods smiled on us as we headed down to Zipworld for an adventure fuelled day. We set off bright and early but the SatNav took us 20min in the wrong direction and so we were late and missed our time slot for our first experience - the Forrest coaster. Thankfully they still let us on! Phew!
The Forest Coaster was the ride I was most looking forward to. A rollercoaster through the woods. It was as exhilarating as it sounds and the bonus was that we got to go on it three times. Unexpectedly and slightly dauntingly we got to control our own breaks! You could go as daredevil or as gingerly as you wanted. Probably a good job they limit you to three turns as you definitely get more reckless each time.
Next was the Tree Hoppers course. Think Go Ape… a series of obstacles and zip wires. The course started around 2m from the ground and steadily got higher before progressing you to the more advanced circuit. A great way to ease kids in. Both Oliver and Elizabeth loved it and we all had great fun getting round. At one point Oliver missed the catch at the end of a zip wire and went back again, so just had to hang around waiting to be rescued. He didn’t seem to mind much.
After lunch and a little downtime back at the bus (which we thankfully had with us) it was time to go back for more. Our last activity was Treetop Nets - a series of bouncy pathways and trampolines suspended in the trees. We all had a great time chasing each other and being silly before declaring the kids suitably exhausted. Unsurprisingly they’re asleep by 7:30pm! Great for Andy and I… we can have some grown up time. Now… pass me the wine.
