Today’s plan was supposed to be gorge walking and climbing which we were all looking forward to. Last night, as the weather front moved in, our day of adventure had already been halved as outdoor climbing on wet rock with kids wouldn’t be fun. By the morning, after a night of heavy rain, gorge walking was also out of the question. The river by our campsite, where two days ago we were skimming stones on a stony beach, was a torrent of water. Today was a great day for watching waterfalls, not walking upstream.
Not to be beaten we quickly came up with a plan B and booked slots at the local indoor climbing centre and Ninja course for the afternoon. We then took the opportunity in the morning between showers to go for a little walk near the campsite before driving to a local cafe for a hearty fry up for lunch.
The indoor climbing and Ninja play area were great fun. Oliver enjoyed speed climbing his way up everything, even some scary looking giant steps. Elizabeth did amazingly too, giving everything a go and making it to the top a few times. After an hour climbing, we had an hour at the Ninja park… basically hard soft play, big enough for big kids and adults, but still achievable for little kids. Oliver was in 7th heaven and I don’t think I saw anything other than a flash of him the whole time. Elizabeth and I went round together climbing over obstacles, sliding down slides and having fun. It was bloody knackering!
Chilled night tonight and then it’s time to say goodbye to Snowdonia. Sad in a way as I love it here and would have liked to head to Llanberis but we’ll be back another time.
