With over 3000 years in history, thousands of restaurants, hundreds of galleries and at least 15 odd museums you could spend a day in the pull to spend your day in the culture of this city is pretty compelling. But then there are bright shinny 33c skies, a crystal azure ocean and the most relaxing beach facilities I've ever seen.
All that is to say we spent the day on the beach dozing on and off all day long. Everyone was in their element, Orangina delivered to your lounge - what could be better? We settled at the Blue Beach club, there are a dozen or more options along the strip. With absolute waterfront lounges we were right on the edge of the club next to a water activities place. We watched people parasailing all morning until two Sydney kids that Max had made friends with had a go. That was enough to convince me I had to do it - I had expected it to be a bit of an adrenaline activity, but it's soooo peaceful. You just glider over the ocean, it's incredibly peaceful and calming. The scariest part was the landing, it's not until halfway through the decent that you realise just how fast you've been going. The kids were busting to see me land in the water rather than the rocks, their wish came true :) The 12pm Cannon sounded triggering us we should eat soon, we had lunch right on our lounges, a bit more sleep. The kids had been pestering us all day to let them have a go on the sofa, a big rubber lounge that they pull behind the boat. Within 30 seconds of heading out Boo was laughing in fits of intense fear. It was so windy and choppy we were whipped around bouncing over little breaks and crashing into each other. At least a dozen times my view from the centre of both kids was to feel us all launch into the ait and see Fid & Boo's heads go bouncing towards each other on the ascent and somehow never quite touch before gravity slammed us back into the sea. Fid was having a ball, I was in hysterics, Boo put on her big girl pants for the whole time until we got to shore. Once on shore the adrenaline started to fade and the reality of her last 15 minutes or so played itself through her mind - she was a mix of giggles and sobs :) We decided to go find some dinner. It's very civil to be able to take a shower in such facilities right on the beach, we were back on the promenade strolling a lot slower than before off to find a laundromat. We dried our swimmers, raided an boulangerie and headed home for sandwiches by the pool.
The sun is so deceiving we were sitting down to each at 8:30 thinking it was more like 5:30.They do have an abundance of culture here, but we spent the day immersed in the same perfect Nice day that attracted european tourists 200 years ago, that's historic too.
