So it was goodbye to Dunkeld and time to head down the Great Ocean Road and back to Melbourne. The drive was pretty amazing, seeing all the sights where the land has fallen into the sea after being battered with the waves for hundreds and thousands of years. As little ago as 1990 a piece fell into the sea leaving 2 people stranded on the newly formed island! (London Bridge)
The little towns along the road were really nice, Apollo Bay, and Lorne were the nicest. It's a shame we didn't get to spend more time in those places but we had to make it to Torquay, our bed for the night. Defiantly the kind of place to visit with some friends for a few days, go surfing and check out the local cafes and restaurants.
By the end of the day though I was getting fed up with the seemly endless twists and turns along the coast line, it was probably the most I have had to concentrate on driving in my life. It was still worth it though.
We stayed at the Backpackers in Torquay everyone was very friendly and we spelt very well. Next Day drove around Torquay, lovely place, again big into surfing and cafes. We took a drive to the coast and there must have been over 100 people surfing, I couldn't believe it.
Drove up to Geelong, and had lunch at the waterfront, a bit like Melbourne but Smaller. Then we drove back into Melbourne and stayed at Rach and Barries Place. Next few days going to organise Beckies Dad visiting in Sydney so planning our Route and stay in Sydney, also spend some time in Melbourne with friends.
