Climbed up MT Pinnacle at Halls Gap today, probably my favourite mountain we have climbed so far. Just a one hour drive north from Dunkeld through the beautiful Grampians National Park lays Halls Gap. A small town/camp site is maybe the best way to describe it, very touristy. But to be honest it didn't really bother me. We grabbed some food and drink from town and headed up the road to the base of Pinnacle. The terrain was a lot rockier and open so the views were much better. You had a choice of whether to head straight to the top or to cut through the Canyon which is what we did. Took us just over an hour to get to the top and the views were amazing!
On the way back through Halls Gap, we saw a load of Kangaroo's on a cricket pitch and decided to get a few photos and they really didn't mind us getting close which was amazing.
Few days ago had a bit of a misadventure when we got lost up MT Abrupt for 2 hours, there are a lot of landslips which made it look as if there were paths. We later realised our error, and had to fight through quite a bit of spikey bush to get out, for a while I did worry we may have got stuck up there all night. So I think we will attempt Abrupt once more before we leave the Area.
Just a few more days until we move on now, admittedly I am really going to miss the house, the location and the friends we have made but you have to move on, on to the next exciting place.
