Day 10 - Friday morning we packed up our bags and drove to the station to pick up Jonas (Chef also starting at the Royal Mail Hotel) Took us around 4 hours to get to Dunkeld with an hour stop in Ballaratt for Lunch. They put us up in a room but it's more like a little house without a kitchen and has become our home until we get a house sorted. We headed over to the Hotel Bar and had a beer and some food and watched the tennis.
Day 11 - So it was time to check out the local area, so we decided to take a drive to the nearest town called Hamilton, we were surprised, as it was a lot bigger than we thought it would be. It has everything we might need which was good as Dunkeld is tiny and without Hamilton we would be very isolated. We then drove down to the coach to check out the beach at Warrnambool. Not a swimming beach, very big waves so only got for surfing, sunbathing and paddling. Grabbed a Pizza on the way home and then took a drive into the country to see the Kangaroo's.
Day 12 - Beckie's Birthday! Unfortunately not the best start as Beckie was having really bad pain in her tooth as it was Australia Day no were aside from the Hospitals were open, so we had to head to A&E, they gave her some painkillers and told her to see a Dentist , so a bit of a waste of time. In the afternoon we went for a walk up Mt Abrupt in the Grampians, but only managed to get 45 minutes up before we got really tired. (Around 1.5 Hours to the Summit) I didn't want to be knackered for my first Day in the kitchen. We were going to go out for dinner but thought we would save it for when Beckie's tooth was better.
Day 13 - First day in kitchen, went well, really good food, nice people and good working environment so far. Day 14 - I Worked not too busy which was good as still getting to know my way around the Kitchen. Beckie read and sunbathed all day (alright for some) and in the evening we went for a drink with some of the guys from the Hotel. Weather has been amazing the last few days in the high 30's we have air con in our room and the kitchen is not too hot either.
Day 15 - We went a viewed two houses, and loved the second one we saw, its less than a minute walk to work for me and really clean and modern. We have put in an application and if all goes to plan we should be moved in by the Weekend. We need to buy a load of stuff for it and get the Net and TV sorted. But we are going to share with Jonas who works with me as he is staying in the farm house at the moment (not ideal location and very basic) Beckie met with HR women at the Hotel but they had no jobs going as January and February are there quietest months, so they are going to help her find a job in Hamilton. Then in the evening we went for Dinner in the Restaurant at the Hotel, had a 9 course tasting menu with matching wines, it was amazing!
No photos for a while, as we have prepaid internet and it uses a lot of data uploading photos.
