Brenton Kovacs's Travels
Today was another amazing days driving. The scenery never ceases to amaze. Gerry makes sure we take the scenic routes rather than the highways. We pass through so really cool old towns. Will miss sleeping under the towering redwoods, what a place!.
After driving up the coast into Oregon, we have to turn back and take another route, as Gerry found out that the way she wanted to go was too dangerous. The Oregon coast was covered with sea fog, so not much good for pictures.
Once we get back to Crescent city we make our way north east to Crater National Park. Were are on the raod till about 4pm, where we find the RV park called Crater Lake RV park. Its still about 50ks from the lake.
So i set up the tent once again and Gerry heads off to the very little town to do her washing. I take a rather long walk around the banks of the lake through the forest. Pretty cool place in the middle of nowhere. The moon is shining brightly so not milky way tonight.

This morning we drive to Crater Lake National Park. Its a lovely drive through the forests along the highway. Now i have wanted to see crater lake for some time now, because the pictures i have seen look amazing. So as we make our way to the crater rim drive, we stop at the first lookout and i am stuck for words. It would have to be the most magical place i have ever visited. The colour of the water is just so blue. The reflections are fantastic. Its is beautiful. Even Gerry is stuck for words.
Made some new friends, a bird and some chipmunks. Its amazing how friendly they are when you have some nice nuts to share. It was so funny watching the bird and chipmunk fight for the food.
So we spend most of the day driving around the crater rim, with changing views at each lookout. As the park is quite remote, in the middle of Oregon, there are not many people here. Its a nice warm day, filled with amazing scenery. I took nearly 100 pictures of the lake, so now i have the hard task of deleting the ones that are just not good enough.
On the way back we stop off at Rogue Gorge to see a fast flowing river carving its way through a gorge. We also have a nice big piece of Pie at Beckies cafe.
Today was one to remember, Crater Lake is unbelievably beautiful. Dont think there are too many places that can top Crater Lake.
