Brenton Kovacs's Travels
Today its a drive further north into Oregon to see the Painted Hills. These are very colourful gold and brown clay hills. Next we stop in to visit a friend of Gerry's in a town called Bend. They live in a nice 2 storey house on 5 acres. Both are in the 70's. We stay the night here and enjoy a superb dinner and dessert. Breakfast is just as good, and we bid our farewell and are on the road at around 11am.
The first stop heading north is Smith Rock. Its famous amongst rock climbers and has plenty of hiking trails. Just a photo stop for us.
Next stop is Mt Hood. Its 11,500 feet high and still has the peak covered in snow. We find a nice lookout but the cloudy day makes it hard to get a good photo.
Further north gets us to Colombia River Gorge at Hood River. Very scenic. We decide to cross the river and stay on the Washington side as there is a nice RV park right next to the river.
