Brenton Kovacs's Travels
23/12
The drive from Great falls to Calgary was pretty boring. No scenery as such. Very strong winds made driving interesting to say the least.
Arrived at Calgary, nothing special here. This city was like a ghost town.
24/12
Did some walking around the town, and the very limited shops. This is one very quiet city.

Headed out to Lake Louise, a 2.5 hour drive. The weather in Calgary was really nice, but that all changed when we hit the mountains. We opted for the more scenic drive along the Bow Valley Parkway. Well it would have been scenic if we could see. The low cloud and fog made this difficult. Anyway we arrived at Lake Louise. It was snowing a bit. Unfortunately it was a little disappointing. The frozen lake had people ice skating, and the ice sculpture was very clever.
The poor visibility made it really hard to get any good pictures. The Fairmont hotel was very nice to walk around, and we had a pizza in the saloon bar.
Head back to Calgary and stopped off in Banff. We walked around the mostly closed shops, but had to make a beeline back to the car as it was now snowing quite heavily. Headed back to the rather slippery highway and back to Calgary. Would be much better to see these places in spring/summer.

Very boring drive from Calgary to Billings. 9 hours of driving. We did get pulled up at the border crossing, and made to go inside for further questioning. The silly lady in the booth where we drove through thought we needed investigating by another officer. Turns out she didnt check our passport properly, and all was ok. Only cost us 45 stressful minutes.
Arrived at Billings after dark. Another long day tomorrow as we head to Rapid city, about 7 hours away.
