Brenton Kovacs's Travels
The morning started with a walk into the new City to change the last few Aussie dollars into Jordan Dinars. The exchange place we used gave us nearly the spot rate with no fees, what a bargain.
Went back into the old city to see inside the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. It is and amazing place inside.
The old city is very quiet today as it is the start of the sabbath. We decided to walk around the outside wall of the old city, taking in the various sites. We were siting down having a rest at a nice vista point overlooking the Mount of Olives. A young man and lady were walking towards us, and the young man had his picture taken by the lady. Didn't take much notice until we both heard the young man say
"Is that you Alan". Well low and behold it is John Tillett and his aunt Marie Louise, all the way from good old Adelaide. John was a school buddy from St Francis primary school. Alan hasn't seen John for some time, so i was impressed that he even recognized him.
I think we were all just a little stunned by what had just happened. Anyway we sat and talked for at least an hour or so. The next interesting thing we found is that John and Marie Louise were staying at a hotel in Cairo the same time we were there. Their hotel was only a block or 2 from our hotel. Anyway we had a thoroughly good chat sharing our travel stories. Also turns out that John has been to a few places that we are going to visit, so we got a few good tips.
After saying our goodbyes, Alan and I walked to the lookout point overlooking the Old City. This was very hard going, as there were a lot of steps and steep hills. This took its toll, and a few rest stops were necessary. Headed back to the hotel to grab a bite to eat, before heading out for tea. This turned out to be a smart move. It started to rain after we arrived at the hotel.
Better get packing as we leave tomorrow to cross the border into Jordan, then onto the Dead Sea for 1 night.

Catherine Tillett Well, what a surprise to find the link to your blog! It certainly is a small world. It seems that you are also travelling to some interesting places. Great that you crossed paths so far away.
SHAUNA wow as if you saw them how random!!! that must have been fun! stay safe in jordan =) xxx
Adrya Kovarch It is such a small world isn't it? Is that you Alan on the left - hey stop growing you are becoming huge.
Adrya Kovarch What an amazing place.
Adrya Kovarch Beautiful shot with the clarity of the church, the bright blue sky behind it and the shadows made by the arches and viewing angle. You are getting really good at this Alan!
Adrya Kovarch Another excellent shot - i'd be blowing this one up and sticking it on the wall. It is such a good mixture of detail in the background, with simple repetitive detail in the foreground (are they cargo boxes?) and the magnificent sky brings it all together.
Adrya Kovarch Interesting - Christians are at it!
