Brenton Kovacs's Travels
Today we started off with a free walking tour of the Old City Of Jerusalem. This tour is put on by a tour company to give you a taste of the Old City. They do offer other tours for a price. Our guide was an American with a great outlook. To be a tour guide in Israel, you must be licensed and have done a 2 year course. He was certainly full of information.
The tour lasted 3 hours, and was a great way to see the city with a running commentary. We covered a lot of ground, visiting all of the cities quarters. We both came away with a lot more knowledge. There is an amazing amount of history in this place. Glad we did the tour.
After the tour we grabbed a Israeli baguette and a falafel which made for a great tasty lunch. Their baguettes are huge, covered with sesame seeds. When you buy one, they give you a teaspoon of this great tasting spices to sprinkle on it.
The new city is right next to the old city, so we wandered around the pedestrian malls, and the new shopping mall called Mamila. Not really much to see in either, just you normal shops. Starting to get cold, so we head back to the hotel.
