Brenton Kovacs's Travels
19th
Well we have recovered from Sundays harrowing drive. Todays drive is one of a much slower pace. Heres the dumb part. The drive is along mainly 4 lane highway where nobody speeds, yet if it was a single lane road, everyone is going like a bat out of hell. Dont get it.
Anyway after a few hours we arrive at the foot of mountains, and the scenery changes dramatically. We have gone from the desert to beautiful lush green scenery with gum trees everywhere. Rice is grown here, and its such a nice change to see green fields rather than sandy desert.
As we drive through the mountain valley the road narrows to one lane only. here we go again, everyone is trying to race with each other and near misses are back. The scenery is stunning. We stop at a resort to take a break and get food. The resort is pretty amazing considering its location. We dine on the grassed area and share lunch with parrots and squirrels. Such a lovely setting.
The road then changes back into 4 lanes so the rest of the drive into Udaipur is good. We are taken to our hotel which is perched on top of a hill with a stunning view of the lakes. Udaipur is know as the lake city.
We go for a short walk down to the lake to stretch our legs.
Dinner in the rooftop restaurant is not good. When we place the food order the guy asks how spicy we would like the food. Shauna says no spice, and for my dish i tell him just a little heat is ok. Well talk about mouth burning fire food. Shaunas is so hot it cannot be eaten. So its sent back and this time its eadible. Mine was a little to hot, but i managed to eat half. We finished with ice cream to cool the palates.

The hotel is away from the road, so it was a very peaceful night and we both slept well. We have now covered about 1600ks of which took us very close to the Pakistan border. Many times we would see or hear fighter jets and see many military bases. So now we have about 800ks to go. The scenery is looking better and more of the roads will be 4 lane affairs.
Enjoy the experience of morning boat ride at Lake Pichola thereafter visit City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Museum, Saheliyon ki Bari (Gardens of the maids of Honor).
Udaipur is situated 190 feet about the sea level in the Aravali Hills. This beautiful city was founded by Maharaja Udai Singh in 1559 AD and is named after him. It is one of the most romantic cities in Rajasthan and also known as the city of lakes. The marble palaces, beautifully laid out gardens and the lakes make Udaipur seem almost like a mirage in the desert.
So it was a great day. Unfortunately all the blog written about today did not get saved, so after spending half an hour writing it lost it all, and i am just too lazy to re-write it all again. All in all a great day in a really nicer parts of India
