Brenton Kovacs's Travels
17th
The Hotel Lalgarth Palace is pretty amazing. Made completely of yellow stone and wonderful carvings in the stone. The rooftop has nice views. Our room is small but comfortable.
Our guide is waiting for us at 9am and we walk to the Jaisalmer Fort on top of the hill.
We spend about 2 hours walking the rather narrow alleys taking in some interesting buildings. After 2 hours we have had enough of the fort. Its the continually dodging the cow ****, dog **** and the occasional smell of the open sewage that gets to you.
We end up walking back to the hotel where we have a nice lunch on the rooftop. At 3pm our driver collects us for a trip into the desert for a camel ride. Its a 30 minute drive before we reach the camels. So riding a camel is not something i was overly excited about and after 30 minutes in the saddle i have had enough. But it was hard telling the little kids that were walking our camels into the sand hills to turn around and find our driver.
Finally we arrived back and was glad to see our driver waiting. No hurry to ride a camel again.
We arrive back at the hotel in time for a nice tea, again on the rooftop with a nice view of the castle light up.
Tomorrow is a 300k drive to Jodhpur.

it seems that ever nutter is on the road today. Worst day of driving so far. Anyway we do arrive at Jodhpur ok, and we are dropped off at the hotel. Its probably the most modern hotel so far. It is located right next to a huge supermarket, so we spend some time in there. Too hard to walk anywhere else as there are no safe side walks. Our guide also shows us a fort and some palace, but after a long day in the car, not really interested. Food here is good, lets hope we get some good sleep as it sounds like we are on top of a night club.
