Brenton Kovacs's Travels
Woke to the sounds and sighst of Kuala Lumpur, not Delhi. Still a little upset, but its time to get over it and move on.
Well today we did just that. Caught a subway to see the motor show, and then explored Chinatown. We took a wrong turn and ended up in little India first. Now this was an eye opener. I have never seen so much filth and foul smelling air in my life.
Anyway Chinatown was fun. Knock off stuff everywhere. Constantly being hassled to buy watches, bags etc. All counterfeit i'm sure. One guy offered me a rolex watch for 160MYR(about $50 aussie).
i started to walk away, and his priced dropped to 50MYR. The best thing about walking off is they cannot leave their little stall to follow you.
Spent a few hours wandering the streets of Chinatown before heading to the Petronas Towers. Caught the subway to the KLCC station, and thought all we had to do was walk across the road and ther the towers would be. Well the subway station is right under the towers next to a huge modern shopping complex. You name it, even Harrods was here. Walked outside, turned around and looked up to see these magnificent towers. They are one of the most appealing buildings we have seen.
So many people here just sitting around the water feature looking at the towers. Wandered around the towers, only to find the convention center next to the towers had a huge Digital life display, and free entry. This was a great way to spend another hour.
Walked the 2 ks back to the hotel in 30 degree heat with very high humidity. That was hard work.
Tomorrow its off to the Airport and hopefully Dubai!
