We have booked ourselves into a penthouse one block from Waikiki beach. After checking in we wandered down the main street to see the night life etc.
The next few days were spent driving around the island, and taking in the sights. Sunset Beach, Diamond Head, Pearl Harbour and so on. Wasn't that impressed with Honolulu, Surfers Paradise is a nicer place with better beaches. But we are here now, so we enjoyed our time.

Honolulu is a very busy, noisy, congested place. Even trying to get out of the city is an effort. The Big Island is far more scenic than Ohau. A 120k drive can take 4 to 6 hours, very slow going. Probably the place i found the most interesting was the Byodo-in Temple. Such a peaceful place .

Anyway now i can say i have been to Hawaii, doubt if i will ever go back.

We arrived back in Adelaide safe and well. This was one of the best road trips we have ever done. I know from previous experience that it the enormity of what we have done wont sink in till we have been back home for a few weeks. Truly an unforgettable experience.

Now to plan our next getaway!
