Brenton Kovacs's Travels
16th
An early start to the day to make the 10.50am flight to Denver. Its not busy this morning so no delays getting to the gate. I had a dispute with Alamo, the rental car company when i dropped the car off. i had booked the car for 10 days, and they tried to charge me for 11. Lucky for me the lady that checked me in loved my accent and was only to happy to refund the overcharge.
The flight to Denver was very bumpy for the last 30 minutes due to a huge storm heading across the state.
So i leave Alamo rental car and head west right into the storm front. By the time i reach the top of the Rockies the weather is appalling. Next to zero visibility, plenty of snow falling. Finally make it to Breckenridge, which looks very pretty as the whole area is covered in snow.
17th
A day to do very little, just adjusting to the high altitude and low oxygen levels.
18th
Drove the scenic route to Leadville and returned back via Minturn. Some very pretty scenery and some very cool back roads.
19th
Spent a few hours hiking through the forest next to the Lodge, before heading down to Breckenridge and wandered around the town.
20th
The morning starts off with another hike into the forest. Then its time for my friend Gerry to arrive from Cleveland Ohio.
21st, 22rd
These days are spent sightseeing in the car. Bonus was seeing a mother moose very close to the Lodge.
Tomorrow we begin our adventure to the west coast
