Boaling Along
Wednesday 12th
Set off early for the UNESCO Heritage site of Herculaneum. Situated very near Mt Vesuvius - it was an ancient Roman town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows in 79AD. I’ve been to Pompeii - and think this is better. The excavation work is still ongoing - but here the houses are more defined with the timber used carbonised so still visible, colours of mosaics so clear. So worth the visit.
Tonight we are off to listen to 3 Tenors in the grand old villa we saw yesterday ( Museo Correale) - sold out but they are putting on an extra show due to demand - and managed to get tickets.
Tomorrow is a full day out- Positano, Amalfi and Ravello
