Thursday 13th June - bit of a drama last night - bl....y fan in bathroom wouldn’t turn off- so in my sleep state pulled a cord hanging from ceiling - as you do - stupidly thinking it could turn it off.WRONG - it set off an alarm - so our room was beeping - no one came - alarm for WHAT???? Wednesday 12th Set off early for the UNESCO Heritage site of Herculaneum. Situated very near Mt Vesuvius - it was an ancient Roman town destroyed by volcanic pyroclastic flows in 79AD. I’ve been to Pompeii - and think this is better. The excavation work is still ongoing - but here the houses are more defined with the timber used carbonised so still visible, colours of mosaics so clear. So worth the visit. Tonight we are off to listen to 3 Tenors in the grand...

Monday 10th June - heading for Sorrento - which is particularly poignant as Bob left us 2 years ago today - and I have some magic moments from the few days we spent in Sorrento in 2008.
