The North Gregory hotel (cover pic) is the first place Waltzing Matilda got a public airing way back when. Its in the main St of Winton where we have ended up tonight. Another sunny 24c day with little cloud but it did take time to get there. It wasn't tee shirt weather until after lunch. A quick 200km drive from Longreach through the roadkill carnange and the Hawks, Kites and Eagles doing their clean up work saw us here by 11am so after checking out the town we went out into the scrub on dirt tracks to a set of hills (Jump Ups in local terms) where they were a group of palientologists working on the first dinosaur remains found in Australia (in 1999). They have found enough to keep them going for 35 years so far. They are all encased in plaster of paris for safe keeping then worked on as voluteers become avaliable. You will see pictures if you like of the process on the pix page. Fascinating process and a very good presentation provided by the staff
As in most caravan parks around here free entertainment is provided nightly. Take your own drinks and chair. Some of it has been quite good some not so. We have 2 female comedians tonight. They have already been around camp rustling up a crowd for later so it might be a laugh
Off to Hughendon tommorrow
