A foggy morning, but the morning was quickly brightened by the music of the Four Seasons in the tribute show, "Oh What a Night." We had seen "Jersey Boys" in NY before it won all of its awards. We were not disappointed in this performance. The four guys were very professional and definitely captured the sound and feeling of Frankie's music. Some of the best songs ever!!! Our show was in the Andy Williams Moon River Theater and it included lunch in the Moon River Grill...surprisingly good lunch and a beautiful theater. Some of you know that the real Moon River is in Savannah, home of Johnny Mercer. Just in our back yard! We spent the afternoon strolling along the Landing which was basically a long string of shops...nice shops, but we weren't in the mood to shop so we drove around more of Branson. We decided the strip (which isn't a strip; it's several streets that curve around the hills) was a little more interesting...where all of the theaters are located. We went to the Moon River Grill again, since we enjoyed our lunch, to have a beverage and early dinner. It is a little nicer than some of the other places in town and it is
Next to our hotel. We heard one of the workers at the Moon River Theater say that everything Andy Williams does is first class...we agree. Andy is recuperating from Bladder Cancer Treatment so we missed seeing him, but he is apparently still quite the entertainer. We headed to the Pierce Arrow Theater, not knowing a lot about the show we were going to see. Pierce Arrow is a group of 4 guys who do contemporary country/gospel songs. They were great. One of the guys was in the top 16 of season 7 of American Idol! We had been told that the comedian in the show was funny...he was hysterical...and G-rated! I was totally unprepared for how Christian the acts are in Branson...at least the ones we saw. Pierce Arrow was very open about their faith and the meaning of Christmas. Very moving! Once again, there was recognition of our military...a neat rendition of The Night Before Christmas was read about a soldier alone on this night. All-in-all, we really enjoyed Branson...plenty of entertainment to choose from and the scenery is nice. The traffic is not nice! We cannot imagine what it is like in the main season! We heard that Andy Williams is bringing The Beach Boys and Wynona to Branson next year...there is something for everyone here...especially families!
