Left Margaret river in torrential rain....good day to travel....hit Perth but my tiny map didn't exactly help so had a few turns till we got on the road north.......arrived at the national park outside Yanchep....and booked into the Inn that's nestled amongst wetlands and bushland....
The wetland view room needed a repaint but that was no issue because the view of kangeroos outside at dusk was amazing....
Earlier we had walked around the wetlands and came across two koalas sleeping , cuddling a tree....photos are hard but one did lift his head fir a second , looked at us and then nuzzled the branch again!
Because I was constantly looking up at trees I only saw the snake by my feet at the last minute...it slithered past, a long reddish brown thing, enough to make me move like the speed of light...ten yards in two seconds!!....it was a venomous brown tree snake...it disappeared into a hole in the base of the tree....
I am now snake cautious....didn't think about snakes till now.....
The Inn served sumptuous filling food and I was tempted to have another lamb curry, that two lamb currys in five days!...going from the room to the inn we surprised a big daddy kangeroo, he jumped, we jumped!...then a mummy and joey froze at seeing us.....we gave them a wide birth and opportunity to hop off.....
Only at the inn one night....then off up the coast further north.....

Barbara Oh erh snakes wild life in Oz sounds dangerous! Snakes and I don't mix well either, I'd have been right there with you!
Helen Abbott Yes I think we all would have moved with the speed of light seeing a snake at our feet. I would be more 'hopping' if there was a spider involved though. A friend went to Costa Rica and part of the organised trip was an evening in the dark with their torches looking for tarantulas - mad or what? Lovely though to see the kangaroos and koalas.
