We were rather pleased we didn't rent a bungalow over the sea as they had no shade...we had beach, terrasse and shade...... We also seemed to attract a family of chickens...and a cat.....The chickens got so bold they pecked on our door in the morning.....I always had left over bread fir them...but guess it won't bide well for the next occupants which will be probably honeymooners...these islands do seem to be a honeymooners bucket list...... Sunsets were a mixture of pinks, Marroons and blues.......we sat and watched the sun go over the skyline at Cooks bay....wine on terrasse was a great way to make the evening last longer.....until the bloody midges had their way......you can guess who won.....not us!.....we were sprayed to the hilt.....I think it was an advert to them to come bite!!

Three Californian guys decided to leave the rat race and bought an unseen Vanilla Farm in Moorea, this was 1960...from that they bought a plot of land and built the first tourist place on Moorea....it became very famous with the " yachting" folk.....who moored in Cooks Bay and breakfasted st Bali Hai.....it was a party zone then for the rich...but they've moved on.....now it's a sleepy beautiful spot to stay....we loved it there...our bungalow was yards from the ...

Well after an overnight in Auckland we flew to Tahiti to be met late at night with steamy warm air, a Polynesian band plus dancers and heady scented flower necklaces....we stayed overnight close to the ferry in Papeete the capital, and then after a huge downpour got on the catamaran ferry to the island of Moorea...lucking we didn't have to lug our cases on the ferry which I thought we would...they were whisked off us and the next we saw was on the quay at Moore...
