Landed mid afternoon in Perth...had sniffer dogs search us for foodstuff...got lost looking fir our next abode...driver thinks navigater should know where she's going even though she not been there before .....we stayed on the south shore of Perth so had a lovely view across the Swan River to the city center...the south shore had a splendid rivers edge esplanade with little sandy beaches, and cute cafes.
Our first day we did a mooch around the Sunday farmers market and got our evening meal sorted...then afternoon was boiling hot so we embarked on a long esplanade walk, which was great going but wilting coming back.....
Next day we did the tour bus...had to get the ferry across which was a swift eight minutes....the Bus was yet again an open top red bus....with all the usual informative banter....when we entered Kings Park which has stunning views down over the city and is vast, things turned slightly pear shaped with a spot of road rage....or should I say " bus rage".......a Chinese man drove up the wrong way in a tiny one way road...the bus driver was a tad aggressive and lurched the bus to inches from this mans front bonnet....it was stand off.man wouldn't reverse..bus driver hooted.....the Chinese man got out and got in the bus shouting abuse...the driver gave the same back....then some Aussie in the top deck shouted " move the car you bum"......I heard others downstairs joining in....the Chinese man eventually reversed but hooting his horn all the time....crazy !....the rest of the day was quite quiet!
Following morning it was windy...they say Perth is the windiest city in Australia...didn't know that..hmm..now I do...it was chilly too...took ferry across and took a Captain Cook cruise down to Fremantle and back which was a different perspective to see the city from....it goes right down to the Indian Ocean and back...this time there wasn't any arguments or " boat rage" !!....

Mary Hooton I love travelling with you two - every day is an adventure, just wonderful !! I went to Italy for four nights home again now, would send a photo of the travel group but dont know how to!
Don Graham Takes me back, I lived in the Perth suburb of Wembley during 1976 prior to going to work in the Iron Ore mining towns of Tom Price and Parabado. I went to the Perth cricket ground called the WACA where I watched Lillie and Marsh at their best. The wind you talk of springs up every afternoon and is known locally as the 'Freemantle Doctor'. The local beer was brewed at the Swan Brewery, I use to drink 'a tube of Black Duck' or 'Emu', not bad for Aussie grog and good wines from Margret River. Have Fun
