Franchoek....quaint.....spent a super time at the French Huguenot museum....the poor persecuted souls landed at the Cape of Good Hope centuries ago...and settled here.....
Became farmers.....those farms are now big wine estates but still keep the original farm name.....all French.....
The name Franchoek meant French Corner.
Such lovely Dutch Cape barn architecture.....all pristine white washed..they are a delight to see..
So many wineries to visit....one is called Cape Chamonix....part of a Huguenot estate granted back in 1688....got to try a bottle of that eh Eliza!!!!!
Decided to move on, spend the last few days in Franchoek, and will leave The Strand tomorrow,
Today Saturday has been a beach walking day....rather blustery out there but sunny.....awe..we found a dead baby shark in the beach about two feet long....the first shark I've ever seen, it was propbably a good thing it was dead eh!!

Ray I think they were mainly Calvinists escaping persecution. They also risked death in smuggling wine vines out of France.
Sue Yes ray, they were French Protestants inspired by john Calvin.
