Tuesday and it's blowing a gale!
The last two days we've had two coastal drives in glorious sunshine.....
First from the Strand to Cape of Good Hope...via the coast thru various fishing pretty villages....and sadly passing townships that go on as far as the eye can see.... ...there is a vast deep cavern between the haves and the have nots........it's upsetting and humbling.
The cape of good hope was called the cape of storms...it's where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic....of course it was full of tourists ..us included!...we didn't linger long.....but the cape national park is a treasure of little roads leading to empty white sand bays, big frothy rollers and not a soul in sight....we are currently early spring so not tourist big season......we had our day made by arriving on one deserted bay to share if with a herd/ troop? Of Osteriches....they weren't interested in us as much as we were them!....plenty of baboons with baby's along the road but we never lingered near them as we've a big excess in the car hire!..last thing we needed to see was a baboons bottom on the bonnet and him tinkering with the wipers !!
Yesterday we took a 100 k drive down our coastline to Hermaneus...famed for seeing the migrating whales....and it's the season for migration.....needless to say we saw none!.....oh well we had a huge plate each of fish and chips....regretted the calories after of course!
Today is blustery.....We've been blown along the beach promenade....not exactly Fun!
