Fri 06/06/14 Ten night stop here, so we can spread out. Nice big park on a hill with great playground, massive jumping pillow, two lakes, lots of waterbirds and several domestic rabbits that casually hop between sites snacking on the grass.....kiddy heaven. 27oC today - magic. Kids made friends straight away and were out and about playing most of the day. Big clean up day in preparation for Nanna & Poppy's arrival on Sunday....lots of laundry, mopping, sorting, rearranging, home school. MB & BB did the grocery shopping and run some errands for car & van stuff .....then a relaxing arvo /evening indulging in some of our Margaret River purchases.
Sat 07/06/14 Home school and journals catch up day....ALL day....oh the joys of learning....have to get up to date before Nanna & Poppy get here. AB escaped for a few hours because had to go to Ray's Outdoors with MB to replace their faulty hiking shoes and some deteriorating camp chairs etc..
Sun 08/06/14 Sun LB's turn out with MB to collect Nanna & Poppy from the airport...girls turn for - you guessed it - completing school work until our visitors get here. Everyone very excited to see each other. Tom & Marika decided to hire a cabin instead of squashing in van - kids wrapt cos they can have sleepovers - K&M wrapt cos kids can have sleepovers! Poor Nanna was bombarded with requests for yellow soup & schnitzel, so not long after arrival she had her three helpers lined up in a production line crumbing chicken fillets while she was making soup.....family dinner at the cabin tonight....yummy yummy! Alexis baggsed first sleepover.
Mon 09/06/14 Cool day with breeze and sunny breaks. Headed into Perth city and checked out the tourist info centre then found a really nice asian food court for lunch before taking the Hop On / Hop Off Double Decker Bus tour of the city and Kings Park; great way to check things out. Afterwards strolled around Barrack Jetty shops and had an ice cream at "The Lucky Shag" bar - kids went to play in the nearby park, but complained something was itchy and stinging - looked like fine hairs that had fallen from a palm tree? - so took a short walk along waterfront back to the car and headed home for showers. Roast lamb in the Webber; yummo. Brodie's turn to sleepover. POURED rain all night.
Tues 10/06/14 Rubbish, cold, windy, rainy day so a bit slow out of the gates. Bacon and eggs brunch then headed to Hilary Harbour where we spent a lovely day at the Perth Aquarium. Kids really enjoyed the touch pool, holding and/or patting starfish, sea cucumbers, anenomes and small port jackson sharks. The underwater tunnel was also a favourite, epecially when people went diving in the tank above; lost track of how many times we went around the travellator, but they were all quite good at naming just about every species in the tank by the end of the day (including identifying the "boy" sharks by their "two sausages" at tail end. Other favourites were: the octopus, stingrays, seahorses, stone fish, "glowing" jelly fish and sea snakes...just about everything really; money well spent. Poppy treated LB&A to a glass animal figurine each on the way out, so happy little campers. Back home in Nanna's cabin kitchen, Mikey made a 'scrumptious batch' of chilli mussels (according to the mussel eaters - ie NOT me ; lordy the smell!) An early night cos it is freezing again - low of 2oC tonight. Lukas' turn for sleepover...which comes complete with breakfast & cartoons in bed.
Wed 11/06/14 Cold morning, but a warm, sunny 19oC eventuated. MB out running errands re. car etc, KB spent the day trying to catch up on photo downloads and pathetically behind blog, and Nanna & Poppy had a day with the kids playing Uno and spending a lenghty visit in the heated pool and spa - all well & truly water logged. Brodie helped Nanna whip up a batch of langos to cap off the day. Lukas and Lex both headaches in the evening? Brodie snagged another sleepover.
