Tues 20/05/14 Happy 11th Birthday Koebe Jones!! 9.30am 2.5hr tour of the KCGM Super Pit gold mine. MASSIVE - everything is on a massive scale - guide Tarnia very very good having worked at the mine for a time before switching to tour guide. Bus drives you through the pit and milling operations, so get a close up look and detailed explanation of how it all works....330,000 tonne of rock removed daily; 3 x 17kg bricks/ingots of gold produced daily. ...doesn't seem much, but each brick is worth $1million! Had a look around the super pit shop / historical site also. We all climbed up into one of the huge haul trucks and stood in the bucket of the monster loader that fills them....unbelievable scale. Next home to change into "collared shirts & no denim" for the final two holes of golf at the Kalgoorlie Golf Club.....beautiful course..... We had booked in for the last tee-off time of the day so as not to hold up any 'real' golfers. However, a group of fellows were waiting for a mate who was running late and so suggested we go in front of them - no pressure, teeing off in front of them; thankfully both M & K hit perfect, clean drives with no divots! YAY, we achieved our certificate for completing the longest golf course in the world! Most people score around 130 (par is 100); MB scored 120 and KB 143....so not so bad, but not so good either! Was really good fun...had lots of laughs and re-newed our interest in golfing. Home to skype the Joneses / GAM to sing to the birthday boy, then Skype the D-S crew to catch up with them too.
Wed 21/05/14 7am and time for more skyping - this time to Coimadai P.S. to say g'day to all the kids school friends; call went well with lots of grinning and sharing of what everyone's been up to. Kids were really chuffed to see their friends and teachers alike. Awesome sunny day - earmarked as a rest day - nice to not have to move after all our short stops - however laundry and home schooling cannot be ignored any longer, so in we dive! MB off to buy our own set of truck leads - just in case! Lukas is stoked he has finished reading Harry Potter #5, The Order of the Phoenix, as this now clears him to watch the movie.... and so the nagging begins. Yummy lasanga cooked in the webber for dinner and then all into bed for early night cos back on the road tomorrow - except for Mum who has to download photos and catch up on the blog....a woman's work is never done!

Andrew Hi guys. Great catch up with Deanne and Yub & Co, y'day. Had a great time with lots of laughs. Why didn't we do it earlier. Harry chucked a tantrum in the first 30 mins but he had a great time playing in the backyard after that. Should have taken a photo or two. Doh! Great to talk to you guys also. Take care. Drive safe. Andy.
