Drove from Pisa to Florence and was great to pay no tolls like in France. The only downside being there is no money to improve the roads so was a very bumpy journey!
We arrived at our Aire (essentially a car park in a housing estate) in Florence and were greeted by the very helpful owner who lived in their caravan in the car park.
After a quick bus journey we were in the centre of Florence. The catherdral was a fantastic looking building but our destination was the Galileo Museum to learn about his role in history as an astronomer, engineer, physicist and mathematician. The children enjoyed the interactive section using some replicas of the instruments Galileo used. Though we were all a bit confused why his actual index finger and a tooth were in a display cabinet in the museum!
As reward for some excellent road schooling we treated the children (and ourselves) to ice cream before heading over the famous bridge "Ponte Vecchio" to the Boboli Gardens. Spent the next hour exploring the gardens and letting the children run around playing games.
Back to Bob and ready for tomorrow's lesson at the Da Vinci Museum!
