Another great day. Up early to be collected at 7:30am for our coach to the Melong Delta. Our day has consisted of: 1) Bumpy coach rides (and I mean bumpy where you leave your seat bumpy!) 2) Boat rides on the Mekon river 3) Visiting a sweet factory where they hand make sweet popped rice and coconut chewy treats. Today we met up with our friends Suzie and Elaine and took a tour to the Cu Chi tunnels about 80 mins outside of Saigon. Cu Chi is where the Northern Vietnamese dug hundreds of miles of tunnels during the Vietnam war to fight the Southern Vietnamese and Americans. It was a fascinating place demonstrating great ingenuity and commitment to warfare and survival. Whatever your thoughts on the war it would be difficult not to be impressed. A brief blog today..... Caught our flight to Saigon and eventually managed to figure out how to catch a bus into town (The lonely planet said District 1 was the place to stay). The driver was super cheeky and charged us 20,00 Vnd and then handed us bus tickets worth 8,000! We found a hotel quote quickly (3rd one we looked at and as it was humid and our legs we tired after walking f up and down staircases checking rooms out we plucked for the one for $14). H...

A great day today! The sun was out so Rob and I hit the mopeds and rode to Da Nang about 20km away from Hoi An where we visited China Beach which is approx 70km long. We then went to Marble mountain where Buddahs, shrines and numerous carverns within the mountain have been turned into places of worship. A lazy day today. Hoi An is a quieter place and we decided to take a well deserved rest day. A lazy morning walking around the city visiting some local places of interest including an assembly hall, museum of culture where pots from Hoi An and the local area were on show and a local house of interest which is 8 generations old and has been passed down through the family.
