Deb & Ju's Travels
Hi everyone,
Sorry there hasn't been an update for a while, but my Mum and Auntie Mary are visiting us in Australia so we have been busy being tour guides.
Also we are having a few problems at the minute downloading the new pictures so bear with us and we will get there!
Deb and I left Byron Bay on 14th February to return to Sydney. Byron was fantastic and was a good chill out week on the beach. However, in Sydney we are having a spot of luxury by spending 2 weeks in an apartment. When we first got here we were half expecting people to just start walking in as we aren't used to having our own space.
Mum and Auntie Mary arrived in the evening on 15th February after a direct flight from London, so needless to say they were both very tired but they still managed to stay up for a few nibbles and some wine on the balcony (the view is great, it overlooks the city).
16th February - We walked to the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. We showed them Circular Quay and the Rocks then we took them back to the apartment for a well earned sleep. Meanwhile Deb and I climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It was fantastic, but you will have to wait until we get home to see the pictures of that one. In the evening we went out on the town and a couple for friends that we have met on our travels came out as well (Cliff and Anna). We spent most of the night in Scruffy Murphys drinking and dancing until 2am before getting a compulsory kebab for the way home.
17th February - a late rising so we walked to Paddy's Markets for a spot of souvenir shopping. In the evening we went to Wooloomooloo wharf for a meal at a chinese restaurant and then we went home for an early night.
18th February - we took a bus to Circular Quay and then caught the ferry to Manly beach (North Sydney). We had some fish and chips then Mum and Auntie Mary decided to go for a paddle but they ended up getting more than their feet wet! We had a stroll around the shops and then cooked dinner and had some wine in the apartment.
19th February - Mum and Mary went to church whilst Deb and I had the pleasure of going to a record shop across the road because Scissor Sisters were doing an album signing. We even got our pictures taken with Ana Matronic! After that excitement we all caught the monorail to Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay. There were chinese new year festivities taking place, including boat racing and dancing. We walked around the shops and then a heavy thunderstorm struck so we went home. We popped across the road for dinner as it was peeing down. After tucking mum and Mary into bed Deb and I went to Kings Cross to see a Melbourne band called Dirty Laundry playing (keep an eye out for them on ticket master as they are supposed to be in the UK in the summer).
20th February - Sunday, so mumsy cooked a roast dinner (mmm, mmm) and we all just chilled out for the day. Mum and Mary had a wander up Oxford Street looking at a few shops and in the evening we went to the Mercantile Hotel on the Rocks (an Irish pub), it was heaving!
21st February - Caught a taxi to Double Bay (a posh bit of Sydney). We walked around the shops and chilled out on the small beach for a while. I cooked dinner in the evening and we chilled out in the apartment.
22nd February - Chilled out for most of the day and then went to Wooloomooloo Wharf for dinner at Kingsleys Steak House Restaurant. Dinner was fantastic. After dinner we went back to Scruffy Murphys but it was so busy that mum and Mary left at midnight. Deb and I hung around for a few more hours as a good band was playing.
23rd February - A day on Bondi Beach then back to the apartment in the evening for a chinese takeaway, wine and card games.
24th February - Breakfast in Kingscross and then we popped into the city for a spot of shopping then in the afternoon we had a bit of a treat by getting a hair and makeup makeover and then having a photo shoot at at studio in Sydney. The photographer was hilarious and we all bought a few piccies. We were in there for a good 6 hours so by the time we came out we were all starving and darted to Hard Rock Cafe for some dinner. After dinner we went to a few irish bars.
25th February - Got up and caught a ferry to Parrammata ( a suburb of Sydney). Spent the day walking around before catching the train back to the city. Popped for some dinner on the way home and chilled out for the evening.
Today is Saturday, not sure what we are up to today but tomorrow we are planning to go to the Blue Mountains (national park on the outskirts of Sydney).
Deb and I can't believe that we have been in Australia for nearly 3 months and are off to New Zealand on Tuesday.
Hopefully the pics should be on soon.
Lots of love Ju, Deb, Mumsy and Mary xxxx
