Deb & Ju's Travels
Ok, update from 2nd Feb follows:
Goss from Ju's b'day - Spent the day on Fraser Island, we went to Basin Lake, visited Central station and did the rainforest boardwalk, we went to Wanggoolba Creek, walked through the Pile Valley and then spent the afternoon at Lake McKenzie! In the evening we went out with Carmello and Tina who have been travelling on the Oz Experience with us, all had a good time, especially Ju who drank a concoction of cocktails, got pretty drunk and even managed to get to bed by midnight.
Remainder of Fraser Island tour - we went to Eli Creek, the Pinnacles, Maheno shipwreck, Champagne Pools and climbed up Indian Head. Ju had a pretty bad head from previous nights drinking and being shaken around on a 4 wheel drive bus wasn't agreeing with her, so when the chance came up to do a flight over Fraser Island we jumped off and got on the plane. It was fantastic, but what we were not warned about was the crazy pilot maneouvres which were going to unfold, which made those who were previously feeling ok slightly peeky. God only knows how Ju managed to keep it all in!!
The last day of Fraser Island took us to Lake Wabby where we walked over the sand dunes back to 75 mile beach (which is actually only 50 something miles long - only 50 miles!). We then had a barbie and spent the rest of the afternoon chilling out swimming and sunbathing by a lake.
Mooloolaba - When the bus pulled up to take us to Mooloolaba we were pleased to see our mates Jenny and Liza who had stayed on at a previous stop. Mooloolaba is a nice town with lots of shops, by the beach on the gold coast, so we did a bit of shopping and then chilled out with girls over a few glasses of wine.
Nimbin - This place is so chilled out you could fall over there and never stand back up. It's slightly inland and is what you would safely say a torch for the alternative lifestyle! It has a reputation for mind altering cookies and a hippy chilled out feel. We stayed on Granny's Farm where we were immediately supplied with free wine. The guy running the place was pretty cool and even ordered pizza for guests, so we spent the evening with Carmello, Tina, Liza and Jenny. The pictures speak for themselves on the amount of free wine consumed!!
Byron Bay - This place is heaven, firstly cos we get to stay here for a whole week and secondly because it is really chilled out, has a fantastic beach and is just pretty cool (by the way Kelly Brook and Billy Zane were photographed here only a few weeks ago)! Carmello & Tina are knocking around in Byron too so we have been out with them for the past 2 evenings and we are all having loads of fun.
Think that's the full update. Hope you enjoyed as we sat down in here at 3pm and it is now 7.50pm (that is how long it has taken to do the photos), but it's all worth it.
Ju and Deb xx
