Last night in Siem Reap we went our to celebrate at Ankhor What? bar. Had a great night and bumped into lots of people from Vietnam! Up early the next morning for the bus to Sihanoukville which took 10 hours, and luckily i got a double seat again! Had dinner and an early night watching CSI when we arrived. The nexst day we hit the beach, but it was so overcast and not so warm. Lying peacefully was also out of the question as we were ambushed by children selling bracelets and adults offering manicures and massages whilst you sunbathe. Ate dinner at one of the bars on the beach watching the lightening crash down into the sea continuously, but miles out. Went to a few bars for the 4th of July happy hours which included free drinks and 25 cent beers! The next day also condidted of lying around under the clouds- almost relaxing where it not fro the continuos sellers! Got a bus back to Phnom Penh yesterday and went for a seeing hands massage- performed by a blind woman. They came up with the idea of training blind khmers in massage to give them a job, and like the thai massage it was slightly painful but stil good. Spent the evening chilling in a hammock, and this morning my faith has been restored in the Khmer people. Cambodia is so corrupt you can never tell whether anyting or anyone is genuine, but when i went to a cafe for breakfast, the guy recognised me from last week and gave me my sunglasses which i had left there as he remembered me! i had presumed someone had found them and sold them! Seems a nice note to leave Cambodia on. Flying to Bangkok this afternoon! I have enjoyed Cambodia although the poverty is so obvious and its not nice to see children as young as Keeley and Callum having to work 10 hour days selling things to be able to afford their schoolbooks. I have really enjoyed the food here, both Khmer and western, as there are so many expats here who have set up restautraunts so cook home food well. The accomaodation has been cheaper here than anywhere else so far, and Angkor was stunning! Heading to Thailands southern Beaches now so hoping the sun will come back out!
