Friday 19th
Our time in Paris is drawing to an end with only two full days left, so this morning it was off the Catacombs, we had been advised to get there early as they open at 10am and only allow 200 people in at a time, and the waiting time can be up to three hours long, so lucky enough when we did arrive the line was good, while in line we got talking to a young girl with a baby and found out she was from New Zealand and the baby (Molly) was only 5 months old, they had been travelling around Europe for the last month on their own, brave girl, also met a group of West Australians, small world.
The Catacombs are an underground cemetery for 6 million people that fill renovated caverns and tunnels that are the remains of the historical stone mines, it is the worlds largest grave site and is now classed as a museum. The tunnels are narrow, dark and damp and a bit sad. Let's just say it is not on my "got to go back to" wish list, seen it once, don't want to see it again.
On to the louvre we went, now that place was a nightmare, we came in from the underground and therefore got totally lost, round and round we went finding a ticket office by pure luck, getting our tickets and then trying to find the entrance to the exhibitions, after repeated wrong turns finally a lady pointed us in the right direction, yep we finally got to see the Mona Lisa, and yes it is a small painting but well worth the trouble, surprisingly we were allowed to take photo's of it, going further into the gallery we spent some time looking at the other paintings and they are awesome,
Leaving the museum we went outside to the glass pyramid and I didn't know that there are actually three of them, the big one and two smaller ones on each side, pretty clever.
On we walked and walked, we had now filled our wish list for Paris
Saturday 20th
A sleep in was had today and we didn't get moving until late in the morning, we had a list of shopping to do for friends and today was the day to fulfill their wishes, so over to the Champs Élysées we headed, firstly stopping at a side walk cafe and having our last morning croissant and coffee, shopping over and it was now lunch, and headed for a patisserie called "Laduree"well known for their macaroons, but we were hungry and Chrissy had a club sandwich and I had French Toast and fresh lemon juice.
The day was coming to an end and the weather was getting hot, so we headed back to the underground and on to our hotel.
We have been so lucky with the weather in Paris, beautiful sunny days, considering they are entering their autumn, at the moment we have just had a burst of rain, thunder and lighting, but it has freshened up the air, took a walk in the oppersite directions that we normally go and found a cafe for dinner, then back to the room to finish packing.
Tomorrow we fly to Dubai.

peter Don't forget my gift in Dubai. Just one oil well from uncle Sheik Mahloof de Givaway he owes me big time. Just give him a gentle reminder. Thankyou
