Sunday 14th/Monday 15th.
Our last day in Rome, taking our time packing and checking out of the hotel and down to the local patisserie for brunch and then decided to wander around the town that we had been living in for the last few days, eventually going back to the hotel and waiting till time to get moving, this was a bit of a lost day as our train didn't leave till 7.20pm
The train left Rome on time and this was a high speed train travelling at 300 km per hour and early on in the trip we were surprised to see on the monitor that we were running 21 minutes late , now once again we only had a 20 minute window to board the train to Paris, surprisingly the driver made up the time and we arrived with 5 minutes to spare and were advised that we only had to cross the platform to catch the train.
Settling in to what was to be our first overnight sleeper, we both believed that we wouldn't be getting much sleep, but we did, waking up to daylight and only two hours from Paris
Arriving we decided not to to try and work out the underground system but took a taxi to our hotel, checking in, a quick shower and we were out of The door, into the underground system and it was easy, we are only three stops from the Eiffel Tower, and what a sight it is, big and awesome, after a look around and quite a few photo's taken, we bought lunch and sat on the lawn just in awe of the whole scenery, then on to a river cruise along the river Seine looking at some of the sights, beautiful.
It had been a long day so we slowly made our way back to the station and headed back to the hotel, stopping at a local cafe and having awesome pastries and coffee.
