We left the mountains after a week in the Wind River Range near Pinedale, Wyoming. Our backpacking trip was great, but we were definitely ready to be finished (and shower!) when it was over. The drive to Glacier took almost the entire day today. We stopped in Missoula, Montana to check out the town and get some lunch, then began our off-Interstate portion of the drive. We had incredible huckleberry milkshakes a bit north of Missoula. Much of the drive continued through Indian Reservations, and much of the drive contained nothingness -- just large ranches and an occasional small town. Today we packed up and left Yellowstone and headed south, where we are meeting the group we are backpacking with beginning Sunday evening. On the way we took a quick trip through Grant Teton National Park. We took a quick hike along Jackson Lake, and drove up to the Signal Mountain lookout for a panoramic view. This morning we left camp and headed toward the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, passing the Heyden Valley on the way, where we'd read was a good place to see wildlife. Uh, yep. Today we went to see Old Faithful early in the morning before there were too many people around We made use of the continuous shooting mode on the camera again. It was fun to see, but not our favorite thing we have seen at Yellowstone.
