Ben and Marie's American Road Trip
Today was a big drive, between 5 and 6 hours, so we were up early and we had a little game of chess at the campsite before we left. First time for Marie, so teaching her a new thing is always nice. There's a few firsts for her, mini golf and now chess, I'm just teaching her so many things, she is pretty lucky to be honest. Anyway, back to the real world, we set off around 10, eating breakfast in the car, which was cereal, from the box as we had no milk, a cool box is still an ongoing discussion. Space being the main concern. We decided to drive a few hours before we stopped so we could make some real headway. We stopped around 1 for subway in a little service area high in the mountains. The drive between the two places was phenomenal, so much to see and the roads were awesome to drive on, none we just straight, it was just dips and corners. So I didn't mind doing the driving. Second only to the Turnpike I would say, the toll road between Columbus and Harrisburg, that had tunnels through the mountains as well, just breathtaking. Anyway, we drove on and while Marie had a little deserved snooze, I listened to Rush Limbaugh on the radio, whom I know only from Family Guy, which was an interesting talk show to say the least. When we arrived it was conveniently just in time for the Anthony Joshua vs. Klitscho fight, so luckily Marie's family were watching it, so we facetimed them and used the camp wifi to watch the fight as well. Which was a real treat considering how good the fight was, the quality wasn't even that bad, we were propped in front of Marie's TV at home on Vinces tablet, it worked a treat. After that we had a really nice chat with her family and caught up with them. This was just before we went to Walmart to get a light dinner as we were still pretty full from subway. That came in the form of lunchables, and Marie, reliving her childhood was like a little girl again when she saw them. We got those and headed back via Sonic for a half price milkshake. Then we got in the tent and went to bed.
